Love Doctor’s Advise

Have you watch Will Smith’s Hitch? It is about a love doctor, who helps man (and only man) to get a chance to date their dream girl. Note that, the doctor ONLY help the man to get the CHANCE. The rest is up to the man.

What interesting from the movie is, some of the trick is actually make sense, not only in fiction world, but also in real world. Some of them are:

1. Make yourself exist. You can’t expect to date your dream girl if she doesn’t even know that you’re there. Well, I’m not saying that you should act like just being hit by a truck to save the girl’s dog, or to quit your job. Getting a girl’s attention is art, so give it a try and have fun.

2. Give her some space. I find that this is true, not only for man, but also woman. Give her some space, not only by looking to other painting, but also letting her hang out with her friends, do her hobby, etc, etc. Just because you want her, or you are her boyfriend, doesn’t mean that you should know what she is doing every seconds, or be with her every day and night.

3. Make friend with her friends. Woman, like man, love to have boyfriend that she can boast among their friends. Make friend with her friends, show them that you are a friendly person, easy going, etc. This might not easy, especially if you’re an introvert. But again, making friend is art. Give it a try and have fun. Be careful though, not to let them feel that you’re bragging :D .

Anything you want to add? Or want to share your tips with the world?

To a Friend….

“Anna”, that what she said when we were introduced 2 weeks ago. Although we have been chatting all day long through YM for several months, that was the first time I met her in person, and properly introduced.

We didn’t talk much during the lunch. In the afternoon, we agreed to meet at a shopping Center in Jakarta. The traffic was as crazy as hell, but its worth the purpose. From there, I know that she is very talkactive, and… she eats ALOT!!! It is fun to have someone accompanying you, eating Ramen, Roast Bread and Chicken Porridge, and at the same time, never run out of topics to talk about.

Last week, we met again, at the same shopping center. We drive to a hawker center, to have some noodles, and to satisfy my and her appetite, we bought several other foods. I stop by at her house, with a full belly, and have some chit chat.

Last night, she asked me not to contact her again, for one or another reason. And now here I am, still thinking what she said last night, and her reason. I still thinking that, if I can turn back time, what can I do to change the situation. Maybe, by more sincere on our last meeting?

Well…. Ihave said all I want to say to her. No regrets of knowing her, or anything I did. I just wish her good luck, and may she got the lesson of everything happens in the last few weeks…..

Till we meet again….

Act of Bribery…. or not?

I’ve been faced with a very tough condition at work lately, far much tougher than what I handle last December. Few days ago, one of our big boss called a meeting to get an update, and help us to plan our next step. To my very surprise…. he proposed something which I think is not allowed in my company. He proposed to do anything, including giving the key person some rewards, to get the project signed-off. Don’t you think it is an act of bribery?

He also said that, it is normal in business, and it might against our value. But, he also said, that you must do that if you want to get into the 20% of successfull person of paretto laws. So… there I was, during my drive, re-thinking my values, and what he said.

Slowly, I began reshaping my values. My boss had a point when he said that, this practice is not a manipulation. We have delivered our job, the problem is beyond our control. We still want the project to success, with no compromise to our quality. So… does the rewards count as a bad thing? A bribery?

So… here is my new, reshaped value. I think something like that is fine, as long as, it doesn’t at cost of someone else. Well… the actual things might not that easy to judge. People might say this, that, etc, but it is only between you, your values, and what you believes.

A Good Day to Drive

The last day of February was a good day of drive, one of a hundred days in Jakarta. The traffic is so easy, I can get to the office in 40 minutes, which usually takes up to 1 hour. The ride back home was also nice… except in front of the gas station, where people queuing for fuel, because the goverment was set to raise the fuel price on the midnight.

I’ve been also listening to new radio station, well, not that the station is new, but I just started to listen to the broadcast. The song is good, giving you some beat along the drive. The weather is cloudy, which is perfect.

Two things is not good, though. First, someone bump up my car, which forunately, didn’t leave any sracth. And second, the goverment is increasing the fuel price.Well, does the increasing fuel price has any correlation with Jakarta traffic? It might be, because the traffic was also easy this morning. Maybe, many people gave up their cars, or go with their neighbors.
